A major improvement has been completed at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey. A 13.5-acre practice facility has been added at the Club. It is an entire natural grass project which changes the dimension of what is offered at the golf course. Gary Cursio, President of Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, said, "Golfers will have even more of a golfing experience to add to their day when they visit our new and unique practice facility, they will be in for a pleasant surprise."
Laguna Seca Golf Ranch's Bob Costa, Vice-President and Director of Golf Course Maintenance, is the designer of this spacious facility. Costa says, "there are few Monterey Peninsula golf courses with all of the options which this facility offers." They include:
Laguna Seca Golf Ranch Practice Facility
- 3,000 square-foot bent grass practice putting green
- 3,000 square-foot bent grass practice chipping green with two full-sized bunkers
- 25,000 square-foot rye grass tee
- 25 station hitting corridor
- 300 yards long
- Private instruction practice green with bunker
- Practice fairway bunker
- Four target greens
Laguna Seca is the the exclusive headquarters for all of the City of Monterey golf instruction programs. They are headed up by Laguna Seca Assistant Golf Professional, Michael Keeran. Laguna Seca Golf Ranch is also home of the Jeff Symmonds Golf School (http://www.jsgolf.net/) and an affiliate site for the First Tee of the Monterey Peninsula.
Many of the major golf club manufacturers will be holding equipment demo days at the new facility. Custom club fitting for Ping, Taylor Made, and Callaway is available.
The course has a full-service club house, pro shop, and a Robert Trent Jones design with comforting ambiance and indigenous landscaping. All of this is located in the "sunny side" of the Monterey Peninsula.
